This is the photo where I drew inspiration from! You can find this on Pinterest : https://pin.it/6H0dpme
Since staying at home has been most people's new "normal," it forces us to be creative and to simply work with what we got. In all honesty, this “lock down” has caused me to have creative blocks almost every other week. Pray for me, y’all - I am working through it. Anyways, I’ve always been passionate about “working with what you got”, because sometimes that might be really all you have in that moment. You don’t always need something “new” to produce content. You can simply add on or buy new items in increments so you have a little bit of everything. So, a little back story on how I came up with the idea for this blog post…Pinterest.
First of all, I love Pinterest! I love how you are able to piece together ideas with a variety of inspiration pictures. About a month or two ago, I came across this “bloggerish” looking picture with a young woman on a couch holding flowers with a casual outfit on (high waisted jeans and a white crop top). In fact, she was covering her face with the flowers. It was simple, yet very creative in my opinion. So, I thought to myself “this is great inspo," and I got to work!
I wanted to recreate this idea by planning the photo shoot outside instead of inside, and used a more colorful bouquet of flowers. (Side note: if you ever come across great creative inspo, make sure to always find enough creativity within yourself to produce something new or put your own spin on the initial inspiration to the best of your ability. We can all create inspiration for each other. This is how creativity recycles. So, we must remember to tap into our creative minds and think to ourselves - "How can I make this 'me' or use this content as a tool to help me brainstorm and create something completely new?") Pinterest is so essential in helping creatives piece together their ideas. I have fallen a little more in love with Pinterest since we’ve had so much time on our hands. Here are 4 simple reasons why you should invest some time into browsing through Pinterest, especially for my creatives.
Pinterest helps you segment your thoughts, ideas and potential content inspiration by prompting you to create “boards." These boards allow you to add whatever inspiration you want for any specific category. (ie. I have a “Summer 2020” board that has specific colors I want to find in clothing for blog shoots.)
Pintrest helps you tap into the creative side that you might not even knew existed. (ie. It never crossed my mind to use flowers in a blog shoot!)
Pintrest allows you to pin a blog post/photo so your content can get more attention by key word search entries. Pins can also link to websites to gather more info on an idea or photo. (ie. I can pin all of my blog posts to Pinterest so my readers can pin the post/picture to their personal Pinterest board
Lastly, Pinterest is amazing at helping you execute a whole VISION! (ie. I used my Pinterest account to help me execute my event “Passion & Faith’s” decor)
For this look I wanted to go for a summer…backyard…wine get together type of look. I think I did a pretty good job at achieving this! A nude body suit from Zara.com and white, wide-leg, flowy pants from Uniqlo.com. that I purchased last summer! Listen, these pants are an absolute essential! They are so easy and comfortable to wear and are perfect for summer and spring. You can even pair these pants with a graphic tee tied up in a knot or tucked in! I added some color with my multi-colored hoops from H&M, minimal gold jewelry, a bouquet of flowers from Trader Joe's and called it a day! This outfit would be perfect for a girls’s day at a winery, brunch, a backyard boogie, or even to the beach if you don’t feel like throwing on a bathing suit!
I hope this post inspired you a little bit to use Pinterest as a tool to help process your creativity. Remember to keep those #ideasloading!
With Love,
Paris Ysatis
