VERSATILE
Hey guys!
How is your Quarantine and chill going? I hope you all are staying safe, healthy, and finding out new/exciting things about yourself during this down time. This down time has been an interesting period for me to focus and figure out how to efficiently prioritize my goals. Specifically my personal goals within fashion. Honestly, blogging about clothes, faith, and my closet makes me happy! I get in this zone that doesn’t feel real at times. I love being able to connect with you all on a personal level through this platform of mine. Anyways… a few weeks ago I did a question and answer poll on my Instagram story asking my followers what type of blog posts would they like to see from me! Here were some of the answers: trend reports, how to make one staple piece versatile, and a fashion makeover on a budget! All of these are coming soon, but I thought I would start off with how to use one staple piece for multiple outfits, since that was the easiest for me! There is so much beauty in recycling your clothing and making new outfits out of them every time. I believe this shows passion and creativity.
A little bit of transparency…finding a good pair of jeans sucks, especially if you are curvy like me. I love how jeans look when styled but over the years they’ve become uncomfortable to wear. I recently invested in a pair of Levis’ jeans that LOVE my curves. One of the best purchases I’ve made in a while. The hunt for a good pair of jeans is difficult but once you find your match it is like a golden ticket!
Let’s jump right into this. The first outfit I was aiming for a chill/ running errands/maybe a rooftop lunch type of Saturday afternoon. I paired my Levis’ jeans with a cute/simple graphic tee from cotton.com, my favorite white classic reebok sneakers, a handheld stone colored purse from zara.com, and a chic weaved straw hat with leopard accent! Honestly, the hat made this entire outfit and I LOVE it, I can’t wait to get more use out of it once the “rona” is gone. I bought this stylish summertime hat from shopstcole.com! I love the touch of leopard in this outfit as well, it spices up the such a simple go-to look.
So if you know me, you know I love a good brunch! for the second outfit I couldn’t help myself but to put together a brunch outfit. I decided to add this white ribbed sleeveless turtleneck top from express.com, a gold hoop chain belt from garageclothing.com, this embossed mini yellow purse and my favorite clear heeled mules from Zara.com. Of course I added some sunnies with gold jewelry! The perfect sophisticated brunch look.
I also love a nice dinner outing! last but not least, I paired this L’academie blazer dress/jacket from revolve.com, an old brown embossed snake skin purse my Nana gave me, and my chunky platform baby blue suede heels from chineselaundry.com to complete this dinner look! I also added tortoise colored earrings to contrast patterns/prints with my blazer! Simple but chic.
Even though I have a love/hate relationship with jeans I will say that I enjoy how well you can dress them up or down. Versatility at its finest. If you are curvy like me then you know how difficult it can be to find a good pair of jeans with longevity. Here are a few tips I’ve learned…
Do your research.
Make sure you buy quality jeans.
BUY JEANS THAT FIT YOUR BODY FRAME THAT YOU ARE MOST COMFORTABLE WITH.
YOU DON’T HAVE TO BE LOYAL TO ONE BRAND. ( I AM STILL LEARNING THIS)
Ask around/ ask people who have similar body frames to you.
Try your jeans on.
Buy a measuring tape to measure yourself.
If you do buy online read comments/materials/size charts.
Don’t give up
Don’t be scared to spend a little more money than usual on one pair of jeans if they will last you a long time!
I hope this helped you all see how you can use a staple piece and expand its use into different looks. I am still on my jean journey and would love to hear any suggestions or advice! Remember, keep those #ideasloading.
With Love,
Paris Ysatis
